Hey! I’m Zeyneb Kaya, a developer at Foodi. My role is to create the app and work with the technical aspects of our product. It's always exciting to solve the many puzzles in programming and coming up with unique ways to approach problems. And it's even more gratifying to work as a part of the Foodi team to build something that can form a community for people who need it.

 

As someone driven by curiosity, I’m always looking to know a little bit more about the world and the people around me. I find it so interesting to find out things I never knew about that connect beyond their scope to other areas. From someone coming from a Muslim-American background and exploring technology fields as a woman, I always felt that much of the conflict around us arose from some kind of inadequate knowledge, like groundless stereotypes and lack of understanding. I realized there is something in every person that others simply do not know of enough to stand by them. That is why I made it a key value of mine to learn more about those who are like me and not like me to spread more understanding. I hope that in Foodi, the struggles faced by people with dietary restrictions are recognized, and the amazing sides of it are highlighted with a supportive and sharing community.

 

Taking Foodi off the ground with the team has been amazing, seeing how far we come with each step and looking at the growth we still have to make. Our meetings are always full of fun and laughter, a happiness that comes with working on something you love. I am thankful for everyone on the team who makes Foodi so unique, and I hope to learn more by their side.
